All About Fasteners, Episode 3: The Strength of Screws

Gustavo Angola, Technical Specialist at ITW Construction Products Canada, gives Rob a “white board” lesson on wood screw physics. At issue are the ways in which a screw interacts with the material it is embedded in (i.e., the “substrate), the tensile (pulling) and shear (crosswise) strength of the steel, and the corrosion resistance of the coating.
